Korea SIM for a 2–3 Month Visit: Calls, Airport or Online?

Official pages read 23–24 October 2026 · Korea Standard Time

For a two- or three-month visit to Korea, I would settle one question before comparing daily prices: do you need ordinary telephone calls, or just internet for maps and messaging? A package can include a Korean number without giving you outgoing calls or Korean identity verification. Those are different services, and buying the wrong one can mean buying again.

Short answer

  • If you want to arrange a voice-capable eSIM online, the specific SKT tourist product below currently allows that route. Passport verification and outgoing-call credit are still separate steps.
  • KT’s voice eSIM and LG U+’s Data+Voice option currently require the airport route. Their data-only eSIMs cannot be topped up to add outgoing calls.
  • Count the exact days of your visit. Ninety days is not necessarily three calendar months, and a tourist product is not automatically suitable for a longer resident stay.
  • A tourist number is not a substitute for the Korean identity check used by banks or government services.

Airport or online: compare the actual product

Provider and productPurchase routeCall/SMS conditions
SKT: LTE eSIM Royal Palace Pass + Voice · TextOfficial online purchase or airport roaming centreVerify your passport for incoming calls/SMS. Add voice/text credit for outgoing use.
KT: visitor voice eSIMKT airport roaming centreIncoming calls/SMS require an entry check. Outgoing calls/SMS cost extra. The online data eSIM is a different product.
LG U+: Data+VoiceAirport only, according to its FAQChoose the voice-enabled product, not the online Data Only eSIM.

These are the providers’ own visitor products, not a ranking of every reseller. I would choose the route that fits the arrival time and required calling features first, then compare the full-stay quote—not one advertised day rate.

What ID should you bring?

KT physical SIM requirements checked 25 October 2026.

For KT’s physical tourist SIM, the official product page lists a passport or certificate of alien registration and an identification check at collection. Bring the applicable listed document. Voice and SMS services also require KT’s entry check at an airport roaming centre. These instructions apply to this KT product; other sellers’ requirements may differ.

What an online order does not finish

For the selected SKT product, online purchase does not immediately enable all telephone features. Its voucher offers passport verification after Korean immigration, from 08:00 to 22:00 daily; outside that window the page directs visitors to an airport roaming centre with the physical passport. Receiving calls/texts follows verification. Making them also needs a top-up.

For this SKT product, Korean passport holders are not eligible; dual Korean/foreign nationals can use data only.

This matters for a late arrival: paying before the flight does not prove every service will be ready when you land. If a phone call on arrival is important, check the provider’s current counter and verification arrangements before ordering. Do not put passport details, your QR code or order identifiers in a public question.

The two clocks that a three-month trip can hide

Write down the arrival and departure dates before choosing 30, 60 or 90 days. Ask when paid use starts, whether the departure day is covered, and whether an extension changes the final expiry. KT states a 90-day total service limit from first activation, including extensions. SKT describes this product as intended for visits up to 90 days and warns of restrictions for 91 days or longer.

An installation deadline is another clock. KT’s current eSIM page gives conflicting 30-day and 90-day scan/install instructions. I would not resolve that contradiction by picking the more generous number. Confirm the specific order’s deadline with KT before paying, especially if buying well ahead of the trip. That uncertainty does not turn the separate 90-day service limit into an unlimited extension.

If your stay exceeds the visitor-product conditions or you need resident identity authentication, ask the carrier about an appropriate resident service instead. This comparison does not establish eligibility for one.

Calls, app codes and identity checks are not the same thing

A working number may still fail the verification needed by a particular service. KT says its visitor eSIM does not support Korean mobile-phone identity authentication. SKT’s selected product excludes personal-authentication/payment messages. LG U+ describes limited restaurant/taxi app SMS verification with Voice/SMS, but not banking or government identity verification. Do not read that as a promise that every reservation app will accept the number.

My dividing line is simple: internet access, ordinary calls, an app’s text code and a name-linked identity check are four separate requirements. A SIM purchase should be judged against the one you actually need.

Before paying

  1. Check your exact phone model and country of purchase against the selected provider’s supported-device list, and confirm the phone is unlocked. An eSIM menu alone is not enough.
  2. Get a quote for the complete trip: data duration, included outgoing minutes or credit, top-up charges, and any required pickup. Do not compare unlimited data with unlimited calling as if they were the same benefit.
  3. Read the activation, scan/use-by, extension and refund conditions on that exact product. Keep a private copy of the order instructions.
  4. For the selected SKT product, manually deleting the eSIM requires a new purchase. If your iPhone eSIM has no internet, see the separate troubleshooting guide before deleting the profile or buying again.

This is a comparison of published purchase conditions, not a hands-on carrier test. No plan was purchased or activated for this guide. Recheck the linked product and voucher terms before payment. For me, the useful comparison is not “which logo is best?” but “will this exact product cover these dates and these tasks?”
