Product Recalls in Korea: Match the Model and Business
Official pages checked October 18, 2026 · Korea Standard Time
For an electrical item or children's product bought in Korea, check Safety Korea's recall list against the model and business on the product label. Open the matching notice and read its consumer instructions. A KC mark on a box is not confirmation that the product has no recall.
A shopping title or product photo may not identify the exact item. Start with the model and business information on the label, box or manual. The point is to match that information with the official notice, not to judge an entire brand from a similar picture.
Find the model in the Korean recall list
- Open the Safety Korea recall search (Korean).
- In 검색조건 (search condition), select 모델명 (model), enter the model as printed on the label, then choose 검색 (search). If the model is unclear, product-name or business searches can help locate candidates.
- Compare the business and other identifiers, then open the result. A matching model string is a starting point, not the whole decision.
The public recall list opened without login. The single model search checked for this guide returned two entries with different businesses and publication dates. I opened the first exact-match result and read its notice. A matching model name alone was not enough to distinguish the notices.

Read the identifiers, not just the picture
| Korean field | Meaning | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| 제품명 | Product name | Use it to find candidates, then check the more specific identifiers. |
| 모델명 | Model | Read the actual label, box or manual, not only the shop's headline. |
| 사업자명 / 제조·리콜업체 | Business / manufacturer or recalling business | Identify the relevant business; the shop, manufacturer and importer may differ. |
| 바코드번호 | Barcode number | Compare it where provided. Some notices have no barcode. |
| 인증/신고번호 | Certification or notification number | Where provided, compare it with the product's information. Do not use this number alone to decide whether a recall applies. |
| 공표일 | Notice publication date | Do not read this as the product's manufacture or purchase date. |
Read any additional target range in the notice. Missing fields are not values to guess. A useful inquiry to a seller includes the model, the relevant business and the notice link—not just “Is this brand safe?”
If the notice matches, follow its specific action
Check 소비자 행동요령 (consumer instructions) and 문의처 (contact) in the notice that matches your product. The first exact-match notice reviewed here instructed owners of that specific electrical product to stop using and disconnect it, and to provide the specified purchase-history attachment when contacting the listed business about collection or refund. These were instructions for that particular product.
The official recall introduction describes possible measures including collection, repair, exchange and refund. It does not mean every recalled product, or every buyer, qualifies for the same remedy.
Keep the identifying label and any purchase record you have. Before sending an item anywhere or arranging a repair, confirm the notice's contact and procedure. Save the notice link alongside those details so the seller can identify the same recall.
Check certification separately from the recall
Certification search (Korean) is a separate page, with fields for certification number, product, model, manufacturer and importer. Its public entry opened without login; an individual certification search was not performed for this guide.
The notice I opened reported noncompliance in follow-up testing and cancellation of KC certification for the identified product. Those findings are statements in the published notice, not results of testing performed for this guide. An older KC image on a sales page does not replace checking the current recall notice.
Why a KC number may be absent
The KIPS marking FAQ (Korean) lists 공급자적합성확인 (supplier conformity-check category) with a KC mark but no certification or notification number, and 안전기준준수 (safety-standards compliance category) with neither. The English phrases here explain the Korean category names.
Do not treat a missing mark or number alone as a recall finding or proof of illegality. If the category is unclear, ask the relevant authority using the model, rated specifications and intended use.
Do not confuse a recall lookup with an accident report
The product-accident reporting page has a separate scope and personal-information form. It excludes food, medicines, cars, medical devices and industrial products from that reporting route, and says submitting information does not immediately produce a recall.
For food bought in Korea, use the separate food-recall and package-check guide. Finding no matching product notice is not a general safety clearance.
This guide is based on public-page checks, not a purchase or completed recall claim. English-language assistance and individual refund eligibility were not verified. The related Korean guide is retained. More guides are in Life in Korea.
