Moving Home in Korea: City Gas Appointments and Final Bills
Treat gas at the address you are leaving and the one you are entering as separate arrangements. Find each property's supplier and ask what visit or work is required. Keep the old home's final bill separate from the new account: a move-out request does not, by itself, connect gas at the next address.
I would put the two addresses on separate lines before opening a booking form. The important question is not which app looks easiest: it is who serves that particular property, what work is needed, and when someone can be there.
Checked 19 October 2026. This guide compares current public Seoul City Gas and YESCO information. It is for residents moving between homes with piped city gas, not an LPG connection guide. I checked public information and blank forms; I did not book a visit, change a customer's name or settle a household bill.
1. Find the supplier for each address
Start with the supplier printed on the old home's gas bill. For the new home, ask the building manager or landlord which company serves the address, and check that company's official local-centre directory. The company's name may include a city without covering every property there.
Seoul City Gas's local-centre finder uses city, district and neighbourhood. YESCO's directory accepts a centre or neighbourhood name. These are supplier-specific directories, not a nationwide booking service. If heating or gas is billed through building management, establish which parts the manager handles before creating a separate request.
2. Track move-out and move-in arrangements separately
| Check | Home you are leaving | Home you are entering |
|---|---|---|
| Responsible office | Supplier and local centre for the old address | Supplier and local centre for the new address |
| Visit | Required safety work and final reading/settlement | Required connection, inspection and start of service |
| Access | Who will be present before the keys are handed over? | Who can let the service worker in? |
| Records | Final bill, payment result and old payment arrangement | Contract/name-change result, itemised work charges and new billing arrangement |
Useful Korean labels are 전출 for moving out and 전입 for moving in. A booking receipt is one checkpoint; the completed visit and its bill are another. I would check the address and contact person on each request rather than treating one “gas arranged” message as the end of both jobs.
3. Check the current booking rules, not a universal deadline
On 19 October, Seoul City Gas's form listed move-in visits on weekdays 13:00–17:00 and Saturdays/public holidays until 16:00, excluding Sundays. Move-out visits were listed on weekdays 09:30–17:00 and weekends/public holidays until 16:00. Neither route offered same-day reservations. Weekend/holiday requests have an 18:00 cut-off on the preceding business day; the Sunday move-in exclusion still applies. Check the relevant screen and available selections: listed hours do not confirm a slot.
YESCO's moving guidance instead tells customers to contact it two to three days before moving. It also contains separate local-centre and holiday conditions. Neither example promises your preferred slot or creates one nationwide rule. If the date is close or the online options do not fit, contact the centre responsible for your address.
If the form or Korean language is the obstacle
The move-in form asks for a six-digit birth date and mobile verification; the move-out screen did not show that birth-date field. I did not test either route with a foreign applicant's details. Those fields do not establish whether your particular name or number will be accepted.
If the form does not fit your situation, ask the supplier which booking and identification route to use. A building manager or landlord may help with a Korean enquiry, but cannot guarantee acceptance. Send a separate request for each property and use the relevant address. These examples distinguish leaving from arriving:
Leaving the old address — 전출:
해당 주소에서 이사 나갈 예정입니다. 전출 예약이 가능한 일정과 외국인 신청자의 명의·휴대전화 인증 절차를 확인하고 싶습니다.
Arriving at the new address — 전입:
해당 주소로 이사 들어갈 예정입니다. 전입 예약과 필요한 연결·점검, 외국인 신청자의 명의·휴대전화 인증 절차를 확인하고 싶습니다.
4. Separate final payment from the new account
YESCO's moving instructions cover the final meter reading and settlement, and say to arrange the cancellation of existing automatic payment and related services before moving. A built-in stove staying in the property is not a reason to skip contacting the supplier.
Seoul City Gas also tells moving customers to cancel old automatic payment, and separately covers the new usage contract, a change of registered user and a fresh automatic-payment request. Follow your supplier's timing so that cancelling a payment method does not leave an unnoticed final bill.
Keep the old address, settlement date, amount and payment result together. At the new address, confirm your account holder, service start date and billing period. If a bill appears to include gas used before you moved in, ask the supplier to check the billing dates. That is different from requesting another customer's private account records or deciding who legally owes their debt.
5. Ask for the work and charges; do not reconnect the stove yourself
The suppliers' guidance assigns gas-appliance connection and removal to qualified professionals. Seoul City Gas's moving and installation guidance distinguishes moving from an appliance replacement, and Seoul from Gyeonggi. Materials and other work can affect the charge; “moving service” does not mean every job is free. For budgeting, an itemised estimate is more useful than an old post calling the connection free.
Explain whether a stove is staying, being replaced or absent, and ask what work is required at that property. Do not disconnect a hose, reopen a supply or copy a repair tutorial to meet a moving deadline. For a suspected leak, follow the supplier's emergency-reporting instructions rather than using a routine moving reservation form.
